Yamaha JA-0801 Auction Consists of : Two Yamaha JA-0801 Midrange Drivers Yamahas roots go all the way back to 1887 when company founder, Torakusu Yamaha, began producing reed organs. Over the subsequent 117 years the company grew into one of the largest corporations in the world, branching off in many different directions; Musical Instruments, Pro Audio products, Home Audio and Video, Yamaha Motors, and Yamaha Computer Peripheral Products. The success Yamaha achieved in each one of these categories is truly amazing, the company inside a company structure allowed each group to operate completely separate yet share resources and assets. The Home Audio branch of Yamaha was created in 1968, but unlike any other audio component manufacturer Yamaha audio had an enormous amount of money and personnel for product research. Their goal was to create truly revolutionary components capable of the absolute highest degree of sonic reproduction, but because solid state audio was still in its infancy and the conventional bi-polar transistor technology of the day was totally inadequate, YAMAHA was faced with the challenge of developing new circuits and new circuit elements to make this goal reachable. This led to an elaborate research project through the joint efforts of Yamaha, Prof. J Nishizawa of Tohoku University, and the Semiconductor Research Institute. After several years this group accomplished many brilliant breakthroughs and refinements in the semiconductor field, all of which pushed Hi-Fi sonic reproduction to new heights. The Yamaha JA-0801 is a high performance midrange driver utilized in the NS-1000 & NS-1000m (possibly others) speaker systems. It was introduced in the mid 1970s and was in production for quite some time after that. It is widely regarded as one of the finest midrange transducers ever created, light years ahead of anything else produced in the 70s.
